No proposal to set up exclusive university for disabled: Govt

NEW DELHI: The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry today said there was no proposal to set up a full-fledged university for disabled people in the country.

Minister of State for HRD Satypal Singh informed Lok Sabha in written response to a question that "at present the government is not considering any proposal to set up a full-fledged university for disabled persons in the country".


According to the 2011 Census, Singh said, about 2.68 crore people are disabled, accounting for 2.21 per cent of the country's population.
