High Court stays Dhone court order in KEK’s son case

Justice Shameem Akther of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday issued interim orders staying the direction of a court in Dhone of Kurnool district issuing Non-Bailable Warrants to Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy’s son Shyam Babu and two others.

On February 16 this year, the Dhone Judicial First Class Magistrate directed the police to register a case against Mr. Shyam Babu and two others in connection with the murder of YSRCP leader Cherukulapadu Narayana Reddy reported on May 22, 2017. The order was issued following a private complaint lodged by Narayana Reddy’s wife Kangati Sridevi.

She stated in the complaint that Shyam Babu and others were behind the murder of her husband. She charged that names of Shyam Babu and others figured in the First Information Report but the same got deleted in the charge-sheet subsequently filed by the investigators.

Challenging the Dhone court order, Mr. Shyam Babu moved the High Court. After hearing the arguments, the High Court issued interim stay order on Monday.
