2 killed, three injured as cars collide head-on

‘One vehicle was trying overtake a bus’

Two persons were killed and three others were grievously injured as two cars collided head-on near Panapakam area in Chandragiri mandal, here on Sunday afternoon.

According to sources, the accident occurred when one vehicle, bearing Tamil Nadu registration number, was trying to overtake a bus on the highway and crashed head-on into an oncoming car. Two persons in one vehicle, Sampangi Reddy, working as a teacher at a government school in V.Kota mandal, and his relative died on the spot whereas the children sustained serious injuries. Passengers in the other vehicle from Tamil Nadu, reportedly travelling to Tirumala, escaped with minor bruises.

Sampangi Reddy and his kin had brought the children to Tirupati for an examination and were returning home. The injured were shifted to Ruia hospital.
