Policeman dies of heart attack on duty

A 37-year-old policeman attached to the Special Branch-Criminal Investigation Department reportedly died due to a cardiac arrest while on duty on Monday.

Police at the K.V. Kuppam station said, Sasikumar, a resident of Palleripalli Street in Paradharami, was grade I police and belonged to the 2003 batch. He was working at the K.V. Kuppam police station for nearly a year-and-a-half. His father, Dharmalingam, was a retired sub-inspector.

At 11 a.m. on Monday, Sasikumar had gone out of the station and was standing near his two-wheeler when he suddenly fainted and fell down. “We carried him and splashed water on his face. We rushed him in a car to the Rural Unit for Health and Social Affairs (an institution of Christian Medical College near K.V.Kuppam) where he was declared brought dead,” a policeman said.

He is survived by his wife Amudha, 30, son Sanjay, 9, and daughter Swetha, 6.
