SCR's freight loading crosses 100 MTs in 2017-18

South Central Railway (SCR) today said it had transported 103 million tonnes (MTs) of freight during the fiscal 2017-18, around six more the previous financial year.

"The annual originating freight earnings of reached Rs 8,627.6 crore, registering a healthy growth of 10.3 per cent resulting in Rs 808.5 crore higher revenue as compared to 2016-17," M Umashankar Kumar said in a release.

During 2017-18, the loading of coal on was to the extent of 52.3 MTs, loading was 25.83 MTs, 4.83 MTs, fertilisers 5.56 MTs, raw material for 4.1 MTs, imported iron ore loading was to the extent of 2 and loading of other goods was 6.38

The enhancement in the loading as compared with last year is majorly due to increase in the loading of raw material for by 30 per cent, imported iron ore loading increased by 222 per cent, loading increased by 3 per cent and loading increased by 38 per cent, Kumar said.

The overall loading was 103.048 MTs, which is 6.4 per cent higher than that of last year's 96.83 , Kumar said.

Yadav complimented the team for the performance by crossing the 100 Million Tonnes mark in freight loading, the release added.
