BENGALURU: Two security guards in Parappana Agrahara allegedly thrashed a 36-year-old inmate to extort money from him. The inmate Tilak Kumar B, a realtor, narrated the incident to his father over phone on Saturday. He had been arrested by Kamakshipalya police in a murder case.

Tilak’s elder brother Prakash B told TNIE, “On Saturday, he called our father and asked him to bring `30,000 in cash as security personnel, Prakash and Jabbar, were harassing him for the past few weeks. He was thrashed by them for not paying bribe to arrange his food and other facilities. On Friday, they hit him on his chest repeatedly. On Saturday, my father complained to the superintendent. A case has been filed with jail officials.”

Prakash said Tilak was depressed over the harassment. “He managed to send a picture of his injuries through WhatsApp to my father. We are discussing about filing a case with the Human Rights Commission for further action,” Prakash said.

In August 2017, Tilak, along with three others was arrested by Kamakshipalya police for allegedly strangling a branch manager of a cooperative bank, to avoid repaying the loan he had borrowed and made it look like a suicide.
