BHUBANESWAR: A day after a woman fell to her death from the third floor of an apartment under mysterious circumstances in the city, police conducted polygraph test of her friend, Shashank Chandra Bansi, who was present with her on the fateful night.

The victim, Jigyansha Mishra of BDA Colony in Chandrasekharpur, had gone to visit Bansi in Shree Vihar under Chandrasekharpur police limits when she fell from the balcony of his rented flat on the third floor of the building.

Jigyansha's father, Laxmidhar Mishra had lodged a complaint at Chandrasekharpur police station alleging that his daughter was away from home for the last three days and has been killed. However, Bansi told the investigators that he was not aware about the incident. In fact, when he did not find her in the house, he went to the balcony and found her lying on the ground."The man was taken to State Forensic Science Laboratory for polygraph test. We are investigating the matter and waiting for the test's reports," Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Kumar Sahoo said.

Police sources said Jigyansha and Bansi met in a hotel about a month back and their friendship blossomed. Jigyansha is married and her husband is staying in Hyderabad. Their relationship was strained for the last few months, sources said. Bansi is a native of Chhattisgarh and was working in a private company here while Jigyansha was working with a software firm.
