‘TRS govt. cheated public’

CAG report shows govt. fudged budget figures: TPCC chief

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy sought the resignation of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for commiting serious ‘economic crime’ by fudging the budget figures.

This is unprecedented in the history of Independent India, he said adding that the Congress party was exploring all legal means to take action against the Chief Minister, Finance Minister, Finance Secretary and other concerned officials who manipulated figures to show a deficit budget as revenue surplus budget.

Mr. Reddy who was speaking to the reporters here along with AICC secretary Ramachandra Kuntia, Leader of Opposition in Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, MLA Revanth Reddy and others, said the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report exposed fudged budget figures of the government and this was done not only to mislead the people to show Telangana as richest and revenue surplus State, but also to cheat financial institutions to get more loans.

The TPCC chief said TRS government has also violated the FRBM ceiling of 3.5% and borrowed loans up to 4.8% and this violation was another economic offence that hurt the future generations of Telangana.

“We will expose the criminal acts of the TRS government and the implications of its financial fraud before the people in the second phase of bus yatra which would start from Ramagundam on Sunday and continue for 10 days,” he said.

Breach of privilege

Mr. Shabbir Ali said for the last four years Mr. Jana Reddy and he had repeatedly raised these concerns during the Budget discussion and discussion on the Appropriation Bill but the government only lied. Mr. Shabbir recalled his experience with late Chief Minister, Marri Chenna Reddy who advised him that the Assembly was like a temple and mosque, where lies cannot be spoken. “But, today KCR and his ministers were openly speaking lies and making false promises on the floor of the House, which is breach of privilege of the House.”

Earlier Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy had a live interaction with Congress party workers on social media explaining them the financial fraud by the government that was pointed out by the CAG.
