Beauty Beat: This season's new unisex scents
Stephanie Darling attempts a detox diet and discovers a high-end face gel perfect for the ravages of winter.
ROAD TEST
This week I try … a detox diet
The lowdown It's me attempting a detox, again. This time it's the Dr Cabot Cleanse 15-Day Detox Plan and my husband is doing it with me. Strength in numbers, right?
We start out bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. The backbone of the detox is a set of three supplements: Ultimate Liver Cleanse, with antioxidants, superfoods, golden pea protein and herbs (taken at breakfast); Body Cleanse, which reduces acidity and optimises pH in the body (at lunchtime); and Gut Cleanse, with amino acids, fibres and probiotics (half an hour before dinner). It's all about restoring liver and gut health and reducing inflammation.
The supplements come with an easy-to-prepare meal plan and highlights include raspberry coconut chia pudding, chicken schnitzel and Moroccan salmon. The creator, Dr Sandra Cabot, offers this extra advice: "Try to chew your food at least 10 times before swallowing."
Pain factor The wine embargo.
Downtime Fifteen days. Results My husband lost five kilos and I lost four. We felt clearer-headed and I lost facial puffiness.
Where to get it Dr Cabot Cleanse, $99, drcabotcleanse.com.
Trend: Boy Scents

What is the best way to apply highlighter? For dewy-looking skin dot your favourite highlighter on the high points of the face: the cheekbones, brow bone, inner eye, bridge of the nose and cupid's bow. For an all-over glow, mix a couple of drops of liquid highlighter into your foundation. Try Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Face Highlighter, $45, sephora.com.au.
