Congress lashes out at govt. over CAG report

Revanth, Bhatti question silence over discrepancies in budget

Congress upped the ante against the State government following the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, and asked the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to respond why he ‘misled’ people on the State finances.

At separate press conferences here, TPCC working president Bhatti Vikramarka and MLA A. Revanth Reddy sought to know why the government was silent even after two days of the CAG report that highlighted severe discrepancies in the budget claims. They asked how can a government claim loans and grants as revenue and declare Telangana a revenue-surplus State.

Mr. Revanth Reddy said the State Finance Secretary Ramakrishna Rao was also answerable to the developments along with the Chief Minister as he was also a Director in all the corporations floated to get loans for various projects. He alleged that the government was trying to make the Finance Minister Eatela Rajender a scapegoat to control the damage. He said as per the four budgets presented by the government there was a revenue surplus of ₹ 1.40 lakh crore then why is the government taking loans indiscriminately. He said the Congress was preparing a document to explore the possibility of taking legal recourse to expose the government.

Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka warned the IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao over his reported personal comments on the Congress leadership at the Centre and said he has no stature to compare himself with AICC president Rahul Gandhi.

He said everyone in KCR’s family was enjoying power and reminded that Indira Gandhi was not in the Cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi did not join in Indira Gandhi’s Cabinet and Rahul Gandhi stayed away from Manmohan Singh’s Cabinet. When Sonia Gandhi had an opportunity to become the Prime Minister she offered the job to Mr. Manmohan Singh. Such sacrifices cannot be expected from the KCR’s family, he said.

Mr. Vikramarka alleged that the Chief Minister was apparently aware of the CAG remarks and with a conspiracy ensured that the entire Congress was suspended fearing they would corner the government.
