Forecasters are warning that flooding could cause delays for holidaymakers heading home after the Easter break with torrential rain expected to drench North Wales.
Heavy rain is set arrive in the region this evening and could turn to hail and snow in some parts.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain for all of North Wales.
It comes into force at 6pm today and remains in place until 4pm on Easter Monday.
Torrential downpours are expected to soak most of the country but a series of weather fronts will come up against colder air turning to snow over higher levels such as Snowdonia.
Forecasters are warning that up to 25mm of rain is likely to fall in North Wales which could cause localised flooding.
Motorists are also being urged to take extra care with spray and flooding likely to reduce visibility and make journey times longer.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Rain and transient hill snow will spread northwards later on Sunday. Rain will become heavy and persistent for a time before easing from the south during Monday morning. 15-25 mm of rain is likely widely, with 30-50 mm possible locally in parts of South Wales.
“Some temporary snow is likely over the higher ground early on Monday morning, mainly in Wales and above 400 m, where 2-5 cm could accumulate before snow turns back to rain. “

The Met Office alert for rain replaces the yellow weather warning for snow that was issued for parts of North Wales tomorrow.
Rain is expected to clear gradually on Monday with some dry spells expected during the afternoon.
However, unsettled weather is expected to return from Tuesday onwards with gusts of around 45mph expected in North Wales on Wednesday afternoon.
Forecaster Dr Mciahel de Villiers, of The Weather Channel said: “The passing of a marked low pressure cell in a north-easterly direction over the north-west of Europe will bring a generally milder southerly to south-westerly air flow.
“After a chilly Sunday with snow over the north of the British Isles into Sunday night and Monday morning, maximum temperatures are expected to be widely above normal for the time of the year in the mid to high teens C.
“Although, these will remain in high single figures over the north of the British Isles.
“The low will bring widespread rain to the west of Europe, with heavy falls and local flooding risk on Monday with moderate to fresh winds.”
