Easter, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is being celebrated across the country today.

The resurrection was announced at the stroke of midnight at churches and special prayers were held to mark the day.

Reports of celebrations have been received from different parts of the country including Goa, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland and Meghalaya.

In Kerala, special holy mass was held in churches early this morning to mark the day. Our correspondent has the details:

In Mizoram as well, a large number of people congregated at Churches. Our correspondent reports that most of the shops and business establishments are closed as people are attending the church services.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted the people on the occasion.
