TRS cheated coal miners, says Uttam

Second phase Congress bus yatra gets underway

TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has called upon the coal miners of Singareni Collieries Company Limited to teach a fitting lesson to the TRS government for deceiving them on all fronts.

He addressed a public meeting in Godavarikhani coal belt area on Sunday night as part of the second phase of Telangana Congress Praja Chaintaya bus yatra. He charged the State government with failing to fulfil the promises made to the coal miners, who with their indefinite strike were instrumental in the formation of Telangana state. The TRS government had gone back on its promise of revival of dependent employment scheme and opening of new underground mines to create employment, among others.

AICC secretary and Telangana state in-charge R.C. Khuntia launched a scathing attack against the TRS government for expelling the two party legislators for no fault of theirs. If what the TRS government is true, why are they not providing the video footage to the High Court and why has the government compelled the advocate general to resign, he asked.

Lauding the sacrifices made by the Singareni coal miners for the cause of separate Telangana state, Congress leader A. Revanth Reddy said the TRS government after getting power failed to fulfil the promises made to them. He said that the Singareni would regain its lost glory only after the Congress attains power at the state and Centre.

Former minister D. Sridhar Babu alleged that the State government had forced the Singareni management to declare holiday for all the coal mines to force the miners to attend a recent public meeting addressed by the Chief Minister.

Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, Congress MLC Md. Shabbir Ali, DCC president K Mruthyujayam and others were present.
