MLA R. Siva leads the ‘road roko’ agitation against the arrest of Stalin in Chennai

More than 300 cadre belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) were on Sunday courted arrest while staging a protest against the Centre for the apathy in setting up the Cauvery Management Board.

While party workers under the leadership of R. Siva, MLA, staged a protest in front of the New Bus Stand, supporters of former Minister S.P. Sivakumar organised a demonstration near the Anna statue.

Arrested and released

They were arrested by the police and later released on bail.

Mr. Siva said the Centre had failed to address the concerns of people of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on the Cauvery issue.

He said the BJP led-government had ignored the deadline set by the Supreme Court in setting up the Cauvery Management Board.

Mr. Siva said he had convened a meeting of party office-bearers on Sunday evening to discuss the future course of action.

The party would extend support to the bandh in Tamil Nadu on April 5, Mr. Siva added.
