In Assam, public sector telecom operator BSNL will invest about 500 crore rupees for mobile service expansion. Talking to AIR, Chief General Manager of BSNL Assam Sandip Govil said, it will help in better connectivity.
He said around 900 mobile towers will be set up in hilly Dima Hasaon and Karbi Anglong districts. This project is likely to be completed by March next year, he addad. Mr. Govil said BSNL has started ambitious Asthamangal project to connect capital places of the North East with high speed bandwidth. He further said all Gram Panchyats will be connected through optical fibre network and steps are being taken in this direction.
He informed that one lakh new mobile connection has been given in Assam in only 10 days in February. The Chief General Manager also informed that the market share of the telecom operator has increased in the country in the last one year.
