SOHELA (BARGARH) : In what appears to be a retaliation against the brutal assault on Subrat Singh, the younger brother of Minister of State for Energy Sushant Singh on February 22, State secretary of Bharatiya Yuva Morcha (BYJM) Irasis Acharya was attacked by some miscreants here on Saturday.

According to sources, Irasis accompanied by State BJP secretary Ranjan Patel had gone to meet former Sambalpur BJP MLA Jayanarayan Mishra lodged in Sohela sub-jail for his alleged involvement in February 22 attack. The duo had stopped near sub-jail to have tea when Irasis was attacked. Their SUV was also damaged in the incident.

The miscreants came on motorcycles and attacked Irasis with lathis and iron rods injuring him all over the body, the sources said. They also manhandled Ranjan Patel. Later, Irasis was rushed to Bargarh District Headquarters Hospital.

Irasis reportedly said the attackers were led by Hero Majhi who claimed that they were sent by Sushant Singh and Subrat Singh. They let him off presuming that he was dead.

Padampur SDPO Laxminarayan Panda, who is supervising the investigation into the case, said Irasis has been admitted to the hospital for treatment and was out of danger.

The reason behind the attack is being probed after which the cause can be ascertained, he added. He informed that no complaint has been filed by Irasis in the local police station and he may file it in Bargarh Police Station.

Meanwhile, BJD member Santosh Suna has filed an complaint with Sohela police alleging that Irasis abused him in filthy language and threatened that he would meet the same fate as Dileswar Sahu who died in the February 22 attack.
