Upcoming Blood Drive
A blood drive will be held from noon to 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, at Rosebush Presbyterian Church (3914 N Mission Rd.). To schedule an appointment, log on to red crossblood.org and enter code “Rosebush.” Also, call 1-800-733-2767. Walk-ins are welcome.
Informative Program in Shepherd
The Shepherd Community Friends of the Library will host an informative program on seed saving and sharing and sustainable farming will be held at the Coe Township Hall in Shepherd at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. This event is free is at Coe Township Hall (309 West Wright Ave. at the corner of Wright Ave. and Second St.).
Climate Change Exhibit
A climate change collaborative exhibit will be held from April 4-28, at Art Reach (111 E. Broadway in Mt. Pleasant). A reception will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. There will be a $200 best-in-show prize.
Smorgasbord Dinner
The Winn United Methodist Church, 8187 S. Winn Rd., is having a smorgasbord dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, with chicken
and pork, with sides, and homemade pie. Adult dinner costs $8 and children are $4.
Alma College Events
The Flora Kirsch Beck Gallery at Alma College presents the annual Senior Show from today through Friday, April 13. Admission is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. The artists’ gala takes place from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 8. A closing reception takes place from 8 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 13. The Alma College Jazz Ensemble performs at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10 in the Remick Heritage Center. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and up, and free for Alma College staff, students and youth 18 and under. Seating is reserved. Alma College Theatre closes its performance season with a musical theatre favorite, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” — conceived by Rebecca Feldmon, additional material by Jay Reiss, music and lyrics by William Finn, book by Rachel Sheinkin — at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, Thursday, April 12, Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and up, and free for Alma College staff, students and youth 18 and under. Seating is reserved. Tap your toes at the 22nd annual Alma College High School Jazz Festival, featuring bands from schools across Michigan, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the Remick Heritage Center. St. Louis Dinner Buffet
St. Louis VFW post 3055 (1295 W Monroe Rd.) will again host their ham-shrimp-chicken buffet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11. Adults are $9, children aged 5 to 12 are $4, under 5 are free. Dinners are held the second Wednesday evening every month.
Clare Rummage Sale
The Clare Congregational UCC is hosting a Rummage Sale from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 13, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 14, at the church located at 110 W. 5th Street.
Rummage and Book Sale in Mt. Pleasant
The Zonta Club and the Friends of the Library rummage and book sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday April 14, at the Mt. Pleasant Veterans Memorial Library Annex at 301 S. University. Proceeds benefit the projects of Zonta Club of Mt. Pleasant and the Friends of the Veterans Memorial Library. Donations for the sale can be dropped off from noon until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 13.

Free Income Tax Preparation
Income-tax preparation service is available to senior and low-income taxpayers provided by AARP Tax Aide volunteers. Appointment times are available every Thursday until Thursday, as well as select Tuesday and Wednesday dates at the Mt. Pleasant Commission on Aging. Appointments are also available at the Weidman, Blanchard, and Shepherd libraries as well. Make an appointment by calling the COA at 989-772-0748. Residents of Winchester Towers and Riverview Apartments can make appointments at their building offices for preparation in their building.
GAFT Comedy Opens April 5
Gladwin Area Friends of the Theatre had to postpone its winter comedy due to the unexpected flooding of the Gladwin City Park Community Building. The set was taken down to allow a thorough cleaning and then put back up. The cast has been rehearsing one month longer off-site since February when the flood hit. The cleanup is completed in the building & performances are on April 5, 6, 7, 13 and 14 for the sequel to last year’s comedy, Drinking Habits 2, “Caught in the Act.”
Chippewa Valley Audubon Meeting
Jim Dealing and Stan Lilly will present a program to identify birds by listening to their songs and calls. Field trips in April and May will provide practice. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on April 11, at Veterans Memorial Library.
Bowl for Kids’ Sake Fundraiser
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Great Lakes Bay Region is holding a bowling fundraiser (2018 Bowl for Kids’ Sake) from 9 to 11 p.m. on April 14, at Riverwood Resort in Mt. Pleasant. Register your team of four to five today at bowlingforkids.org. Help change the lives of at-risk youth in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
Alma One-Day Crafting Event
Nativity of the Lord Parish/St. Mary School in Alma, located at 220 W. Downie Street, will hold a one-day crafting retreat (and classes) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 21. Bring any project to work on (quilting, sewing, scrapbooking, cards, etc) and spend the day getting those projects completed. Cost for the entire day is $64 and includes: six-foot table, two meals, snacks, make-n-takes, table treats, goody bag valued at over $30 and use of all current Stampin’ Up! supplies (stamp sets, punches and Big Shot accessories).
