Coimbatore: The city police have registered a case against an unidentified person for sending an SMS to BJP’s all India youth wing vice-president A P Muruganandam, asking him get involved in terrorism. Efforts are on to trace the person, using the mobile number from which the SMS was sent.

In his petition to the police, Muruganandam said he received an SMS from an unidentified person on March 21 that read ‘Osama Bin Laden is our god. Join hands with terrorism.’

“I am deeply annoyed and feel it could be a sign that I could get killed,” he said.

The Peelamedu police have registered a case against an unidentified person under Section 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of the Indian Penal Code.

Muruganandam had in December last lodged a complaint with the city police commissioner regarding an envelope delivered to his residential address at BKR Nagar on Sathy Road. The envelope had pictures of various BJP leaders in Kerala, who were killed by CPM and Islamic terror outfits. Claiming that it symbolically said he could be the next target, Muruganandam had then sought police action.
