Untimely rains coupled with hailstorm has thrown life out of gear in several parts of Meghalaya. The state along with its capital city Shillong has been hit by untimely rain showers and hailstorm since past couple of days.
However, the hailstorm that took place yesterday in districts like West Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills has caused tremendous damage to the houses of the locals. No loss of life was reported from any part of the state.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has taken stock of the situation in the wake of severe rain and hailstorm in different parts of the State. Taking note of the damage caused due to severe hailstorm, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has personally spoken to the DCs of several districts to get the first-hand information of the situation and have asked the Disaster Management and Revenue Department to assess the situation.
He said all possible measures will be taken to provide relief to the affected families. The Chief Minister has also directed the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary Revenue and Disaster Management to immediately submit a report. The CM has also called for an important meeting today to review the situation.
