8 held for stealing Amazon goods worth ₹15 lakh

Suspects took away products from godowns after forging signatures, sold them in grey market

The Sankar Nagar police on Saturday arrested eight persons, including station support associates and delivery persons of an agency, who stole Amazon products they were supposed to deliver to customers.

The accused stole the goods worth ₹15 lakh over six months.

The police said IKYA Human Capital Solutions was one of the agencies in the city that was given a contract to deliver the goods of Amazon. Firm manager P. Praveen lodged a complaint alleging that one of the station support associates was caught red-handed stealing goods, which were to be delivered to a customer.

Signatures forged

‘The suspects took the goods from the godown in Nagalkeni after forging signatures on parcels to give the impression that the products had been delivered to customers on time. They then sold the products in the grey market.

The police arrested M. Vignesh Pandian, 28, P. Prakash, 27, R. Ramesh, 25, M. Subramani, 27, D. Dhanasekar, 24, T. Nandakumar, 23, A. Prakash, 23 and Ashok Kumar, 28.

The police recovered ₹5.20 lakh and booked the suspects under Section 381(theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master or employer) of the Indian Penal Code.
