First flight of Cyprus Airways from Larnaca to Athens

Cyprus Airways will connect Larnaca with Athens, initially with 2 flights a week and 4 flights a week from June 1, 2018.

LARNACA, CYPRUS - Cyprus Airways touched down at Eleftherios Venizelos airport yesterday. Cyprus Airways first flight to Athens departed from Larnaca at 3:00 in the afternoon and landed in Athens at 4:45. Athens International Airport welcomed Cyprus Airways aircraft with the ceremonial water cannon salute, followed by the “ribbon bonding” ceremony for the official guests and passengers, at the A5 Gate, symbolizing the air link between the two countries.

In July 2016, Charlie Airlines Ltd, a Cyprus registered company, won a tender competition for the right to use the trademark Cyprus Airways for a decade. The company launched flights in June 2017 to 4 destinations.

Cyprus Airways is based at the Larnaca International Airport. All Cyprus Airways flights operate on modern Airbus A319 aircraft with a capacity of 144 Economy Class seats.

The company’s long-term goal is to contribute in the increase of tourism in Cyprus, while at the same time broadening the horizon for local travellers.
