‘The Walking Dead’ Ride at Thorpe Park Opens Soon - Location, Price & More
The Walking Dead fans in the London area will be able to check out The Walking Dead: The Ride experience at Thorpe Park starting Saturday, and it looks like the ultimate real-life adventure for enthusiasts of AMC’s TV show and the original comic series.
WHAT’S THE ‘WALKING DEAD’ RIDE LIKE?
While cameras and press aren’t yet allowed to show the nature of the ride itself, fans have recently posted footage of themed spots near and around the attraction. Attendees enter through the Thorpe Safe Zone area where they’re surrounded by groups of undead actors. Announcements over loudspeakers might also make you aware of the intense threat these walkers pose.
Inside the main structure is where the real fun begins. You’ll see replicas of Daryl Dixon’s trademark motorcycle, Lucille herself and Carl’s iconic sheriff's hat. Along the dimly lit path you’ll also come across references to some very specific comic arcs. The licensed attraction uses props and names to full effect.
Before getting on the cart to begin the ride, brave guests also watch a short pre-show that warns them of the potential zombie dangers they may encounter. The ride happens and then finishes off with one last walk down a long, walker-filled exit corridor. Get a full sense of the atmosphere by watching the vlog above.

TECHNOLOGY THAT’S SCARY COOL
The Walking Dead: The Ride also showcases some truly impressive technology. As discussed in a recent piece from the Daily Mail , the new attraction has an interesting use for the fear of its guests. Energy-harvesting panels on each cart literally absorb a human’s natural kinetic emotional energy and transition it to a station that allows patrons and staff members to charge their phones.
In other words, the more scared you get, the more extra hours you’ll yield for others. The technology itself is still very much in its infancy, but not much energy is needed to charge a device as small as a phone.
DATES, PRICES AND LOCATIONS
The Walking Dead: The Ride is expected to open March 31, and the park typically opens at 10 a.m. local time. Tickets can be purchased for £30 in advance. For more details, check out Thorpe Park’s official site.
