Avengers Infinity War: Is THIS the SHOCKING real reason Thor forges a new weapon?
AVENGERS INFINITY WAR trailers have teased Thor forging a new weapon, but is this the real reason why?
WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD
At the end of Thor Ragnarok a mid-credits sequence saw Thanos’ ship intercept the Asgardians.
What happened next appears to have been revealed in recent trailers and TV spots for Marvel's Avengers Infinity War.
It seems likely that Thanos and the Black Order climb aboard, murder the Asgardians and cast Thor out into space – while Loki surrenders the Space Stone.

We’ve also seen footage of Thor being picked up by the Guardians of the Galaxy before heading off on a mission with Rocket and Groot to forge a new weapon.
But is there a more shocking reason behind why Thor decides to do this?
Reddit user SkulleTron thinks so, arguing that Thor accidentally murders some Asgardians with his out of control lightning powers.
The key to this theory lies in a vision from Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The Reddit user writes: “I was rewatching Avengers: Age of Ultron the other day, when the scene with Thor's vision (The one caused by Scarlet Witch) came on.
“Heimdall states, ‘We are all dead, can you not see?’, which could possibly be related to the giant spaceship (presumably Thanos) showing up at the end credits of Thor: Ragnarok.
“To which Thor responds to by randomly summoning lightning through his body and blasting one of the random Asgardians present there into a bunch of particles. (Which is obviously accidental.)
“To this, Heimdall says, "You are a destroyer, Odinson. See where your power leads."

They added: “Scarlet Witch's visions show the deepest fears of the character but also somewhat appear to be quite symbolic.
“There's no indication that it will definitely come true but it might be possible.”
Avengers Infinity War is released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2018.
