CURCHOREM: A youth from Virabhat Curtorim allegedly died due to drowning at Shirvoi in Quepem on Friday.
Quepem PSI Viju Dessai said that the deceased Sachin Itturkar (23) along with seven other friends had gone to the Shirvoi River for a picnic.
While swimming in the river his friends noticed him drowning and immediately raised an alarm. Locals rushed to the spot and managed to bring Itturkar out from the river. He was rushed to PHC Quepem where the doctors declared him dead. The body has been sent to Hospicio Hospital at Margao for postmortem. NT
