Man Utd news: Guillem Balague delivers significant Samuel Umtiti transfer update
SAMUEL UMTITI is playing a “game” with Barcelona over contract negotiations amid interest from Manchester United.
That is according to respected Spanish football expert Guillem Balague in a Twitter Q&A.
Umtiti has developed into a key player for Barcelona after a mixed start to his career when he arrived in 2016.
Talks are ongoing over a new deal but with a £53million release clause, the likes of Manchester United are said to be considering a move.
But when asked if Umtiti was using United to get a bigger contract, Balague tweeted: “Umtiti is playing a two-card game, on one hand he is telling Barca he wants to stay but on the other he wants to treble his wages.

Central defence and midfield will be Jose Mourinho’s priorities in the transfer market.
And speaking after Sevilla knocked United out of the Champions League earlier this month, Mourinho made clear that investment on the squad is needed.

He said: ”Everything, everything has to change.
"Everybody spends money, right? Not just us, right? It's a natural process, every team invests. It's not a change for the sake of changing.
"It's a natural process and we're not the only team that invests money, all clubs invest money in players.”
