The Congress on Friday urged Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (OCEO), Karnataka, to initiate action against BJP chief Amit Shah for violating model code of conduct during his visit to Mysuru.

In its complaint to the OCEO, the party charged Shah with giving Rs 5 lakh to the family members of Raju, an RSS worker, who was murdered last year in Mysuru. This was an attempt to woo the voters, the party claimed. The BJP later flatly denied the Congress' charge. On its part, the BJP filed a complaint against chief minister for violation of the poll conduct by bribing voters. The complaint states that Siddaramaiah, during his campaign in Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency in Mysuru district distributed Rs 2,000 to the women who greeted him.
