Govt. gets rich praise for irrigation project from former Engineer-in-Chief

Former Irrigation advisor to State government and retired Engineer-in-Chief K. Bhagyatha Reddy was all praise for the ambitious Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) which aimed to provide Godavari waters to the upland regions of Telangana state.

Mr. Bhagyatha Reddy had inspected the Mid Manair Dam (MMD) and KLIP tunnel works and surge-pool at Tippapur village of Illanthakunta mandal on Thursday and interacted with the engineering officials and executing agencies. On this occasion, he lauded the action taken by TRS government for the execution of the KLIP and Minister for Irrigation T. Harish Rao for concentrating on its progress.

Stating that the MMD would emerge as heart of KLIP, he said that the MMD with storage capacity of 26 tmcs would act as balancing reservoir for Kaleshwaram project for the lifting of the water to the upland regions of Karimnagar, Medak and Ranga Reddy districts.

Engineering marvel

He also said that the construction of surge-pool open to sky with 92 m height and 56 m of diameter was an engineering marvel.

He said that surge-pool constructed at Tippapur village was stated to be biggest open to sky surge-pool in Asia. β€œThe surge-pool is part of the lift irrigation system,” he maintained. He also said that he would be visiting Medaram pump house, Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages and pump houses very soon. DEE Prasad, AE Anjaiah and others were present.
