Lalgarh tiger breaks free from trap

Three persons were injured in the Lalgarh forests of West Bengal on Friday while trying to trap the tiger that had strayed in the forest. In what forest officials described as a golden opportunity gone wrong, the tiger got entangled in a net set by the officials, but managed to break free from it.

“This was the closest in the past six months we came to trapping the tiger. While trying to come out of the pipe [in which it was hiding] the tiger got entangled in the net. But it jumped with such a force that the people could not hold on to the net and fell down,” Rabindranath Saha, divisional forest official, Midnapore said.
