G2 Consulting Group, a Troy-based geotechnical, environmental and construction services firm that helps energy producers investigate sites for solar power nationwide, is now evaluating potential sites in Michigan.

While no specific sites have been selected yet, the company said only the most economically viable sites will ultimately be selected for solar development.

Site investigations and selection often center around the subsurface conditions that affect the capacity and longevity of the steel posts that support the solar panels. The right conditions must be selected for the site to be structurally sound, environmentally considerate and functionally efficient.

G2 said it is interested in Michigan because the solar energy industry is making “very positive inroads” and the company is confident the industry is poised to grow quickly within the next five to ten years.
