Nagpur: After a brief lull in the recovery of property tax, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is all set to
auction 42 properties of defaulters next month to recover over Rs67.55 lakh dues.
According to data compiled by NMC’s tax department, Dharampeth zone will be auctioning 15 properties on April 7 to recover Rs44.51 lakh dues. Hanuman Nagar zone too will auction 27 properties on three different dates next month. The first auction of 10 properties will be held on April 2 to recover Rs7.37 lakh dues, while auction of 10 and 7 more properties will be carried out on April 3 and April 4 to recover tax dues of Rs7.36 lakh and Rs8.31 lakh respectively.
In March alone, the civic body has executed 1,300 warrants to property owners directing them to clear tax dues or their properties will be auctioned.
Till date, the NMC had auctioned 241 properties from nine zones — Laxmi Nagar, Dharampeth, Hanuman Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Gandhibagh, Satranjipura, Lakadganj, Ashi Nagar and Mangalwari, except Dhantoli zone.
