Kashmir: 1 special police officer dead, 2 wounded in Terror attacks in South Kashmir

One Special Police Officer (SPO) lost his lives and two others wounded as militants carried out three back to back attacks on Thursday in South Kashmir region.

The terrorists carried out initial attack at 8.25 pm when attacker entered into the house of Special Police Officer (SPO) at Katsoo village of Bejbihara in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.

The deceased SPO was found as Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh. As per the reports, his wife Fareeda sustained several injuries. Soon after the injuries, they were taken to the hospital for treatment but SPO Mushtaq was declared dead by the doctors.

“SPO was fired near his house and he passed away. His wife is also injured”, Altaf Ahmad Khan, senior superintendent of police, Anantnag asserted.

Armed forces immediately reached to the area and seized it. Investigation has been launched to look for the terrorists involved in the attack.

Later, militants gunned down and wounded Madrassa teacher when he was coming back after doing prayers at Sooch village in Kulgam district of South Kashmir. Sayar Ahmed sustained injuries in his leg and has been sent to the hospital for treatment.

“He was returning after offering prayers when militants shot at him near the Masjid. He has been shifted to hospital and his condition is stable”, Shridhar Patil, superintendent of police, Kulgam district stated.
