Mamata Banerjee to meet Karunanidhi

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee will visit Tamil Nadu soon to meet DMK president M. Karunanidhi and working president M.K. Stalin. The date for the meeting, however, has not been finalised.

DMK sources said Ms. Banerjee was keen on meeting the two leaders and she discussed the issue with DMK MP Kanimozhi in New Delhi earlier this week.

Asked about the political significance of the meeting, party sources said since the DMK was part of the Congress alliance, it was not advisable to draw any conclusions now.

Meanwhile, the DMK has convened the executive committee meeting of the party on Friday to discuss the next course of action on the Centre’s failure to constitute the Cauvery Management Board. The meeting will take place at the Anna Arivalayam.
