In the palace of Vaishali, Lord Mahavira was born in the family of King Siddhartha and Queen Trisala.  Vardhamana name signifies ‘one who grows’. He was a member of Ikshvaku dynasty.  At early age, Lord Mahavira took over his father’s empire and reign for more than 30 years. Throughout his life, he gave the lesson of ahimsa (non-violence), asteya (non-stealing), satya (truth), brahmacharya (chastity), aparigraha (non-attachment) to his devotees.
