CS wants railway projects to be expedited

‘Release funds for MMTS Phase-II’

The government would take all necessary steps to clear the hurdles in the way of taking up the proposed ₹380-crore Overhauling Wagon Shed by the South Central Railway (SCR) at Kazipet by acquiring the necessary land, said Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi on Thursday.

Interacting with the SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav and other senior railway officers when they called on him, Mr. Joshi said the government had released ₹38 crore for the project which has a potential to generate 20,000 jobs. He also directed the revenue authorities to expedite land acquisition for other railway projects which were brought to his notice.

Mr. Yadav requested the Chief Secretary to release funds for the ongoing MMTS Phase-II project, Akanapet-Medak and Manoharabad-Kotapalli new railway line projects for enabling early completion.

He requested funds for a joint survey for identifying and developing rail terminals in the twin cities and an approach road to the upcoming passenger terminal at Cherlapalli.

The General Manager also wanted the government to review the proposed and long-pending joint venture pact so that the modalities could be finalised, a press release said.
