The second edition of Smart India Hackathon begins tomorrow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar will inaugurate it through video-conferencing. The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is one of the 22 centres in the country selected to host this edition. The Union HRD Ministry's event will be held tomorrow and day after to develop mobile applications and computer programmes for Union ministries and state governments. This year, BHU will host teams, which will develop apps and programmes for the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation. The first edition of the hackathon was held last year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will tomorrow interact with participants of Grand finale of Smart India Hackathon across various centres. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, that he will join the grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon in the evening. Prime Minister said he is eagerly looking forward to this opportunity of engaging with pioneering young innovators. The second edition of Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2018- Software edition will be held on Friday and Saturday simultaneously at different nodal centres across the country. The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is one of the 22 centres in the country selected to host this edition. The Hackathon is intended for promoting innovation, out-of-the-box thinking in young minds, especially engineering students.
The first edition of Hackathon was launched in October last year. It aims to harness creativity and expertise of students, builds the funnel for - Startup India, Standup India campaign, crowdsources solutions for improving governance and gives the opportunity to citizens to provide innovative solutions to India’s daunting problems.
The Hackathon was launched to build Digital India of country's dreams and to engage the youth directly with nation-building.
