McALLEN – Spring has sprung at Quinta Mazatlan.
Time to get out and travel back in time to learn about the people and wildlife that lived at this 1930s mansion, one of the largest adobe homes in the state of Texas.
Quinta Mazatlan provides various tours throughout the week to satisfy every naturalist and history enthusiast needs.
If native gardening and landscaping are more your forte, we suggest a Garden Walk and Talk Tour.
Drop in on Wednesdays at 10 am to chat and walk with a garden expert.
Enjoy the themed garden walks with interesting stories about plants and gardens. Quinta Mazatlan’s gardens are stocked with hardy valley native plants. We are also exhibiting our “Lawn Gone” project where visitors can actually see the program in place. Each month the topic will change based on the season.
Come experience Healing in Nature at Quinta Mazatlán on Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. This program creates a mind-body workout for all fitness levels. Participants will utilize breathing exercises, yoga poses and interval exercises to reduce stress, clear their mind and tone muscle.
Participants are expected to bring their own mat and dress appropriately. Light weights and bands are optional.
Bring your friends and tour one of the largest adobe homes in the state of Texas, Quinta Mazatlan. The History of Quinta Mazatlan Tour is hosted on Fridays at 10 a.m.
Hear about the tales of the families that built and lived at Quinta Mazatlán for a total of 60 years before the City of McAllen purchased the estate and opened it in 2006 as a mansion with a mission. Stories of intriguing guests and happenings at the mansion will leave you wanting more.
Did you know that 230 species of birds have been seen at Quinta Mazatlán since 2006? One can enjoy a Songbird Stroll Tour on Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. to experience these creatures in their natural habitat. Guests will see, hear, and be with birds from the valley and beyond. Enjoy a walk through our Tamulipan thorn forest observing and hearing birds with an expert naturalist.
Tours will continue weekly through April 2018. All public tours are included in admission fee: $2 Children under 12, $2 Senior Citizens and $3 Adults. Free admission to members and children ages 2 years & under. Private bookings are available. For groups with 10 or more are required to call in advance and schedule a Private Tour.
