Spectacular Easter eggs from the high street and specialist producers (including one shaped like half an avocado - yes, really), have been tested by Martyn Nail, the executive chef (and self-proclaimed chocolate fan) at Claridge’s. The test was blind – no packaging, branding or prices to be seen.

I love the high-gloss finish and artistic design, but there’s an unpleasant sourness to the chocolate flavour and it has an oily texture. What a shame....
