KU sets ₹293-crore budget for 2018-19

Estimated revenue this year is ₹267 cr.; govt. sanctions ₹25 cr. for development

At its 33rd meeting here on Wednesday, the Kakatiya University Academic Senate has approved a budget of ₹293.41 crore for 2018-19.

Commerce and Business Management professor Ch. Rajesham presented the budget, which was unanimously approved by the members. It is estimated that the varsity would get revenue of ₹267.21 crore and expenditure would be ₹293.41 crore. The opening balance stands at ₹43.09 crore.

The university needs ₹148.30 crore towards payment of salary of teaching and non-teaching staff, and an amount of ₹87.11 crore would be sanctioned by the government as grant-in-aid. This year, the government has extended ₹25 crore as development budget.

The areas of expenditure include — ₹1.76 crore for NSS activities, ₹15 lakh for Internet facilities, ₹43.59 crore for examination branch, ₹13.70 lakh for library, ₹8.80 lakh for University Health Centre, ₹7.50 lakh for welfare and recreations activities, ₹18 lakh for student services, ₹3 lakh for library automation, ₹10 lakh for plantation, beautification of campus, maintenance of lawns and ₹20 lakh for laying of roads.

Vice-Chancellor R. Sayanna, who chaired the meet, told the Senate about the development and achievements of the university.
