It’s KCR’s constitution in Telangana: Congress

Opinions being silenced, says MLC

Congress MLC and deputy leader of CLP P. Sudhakar Reddy has said that Telangana was witnessing a new Constitution where democracy is “for KCR, of KCR and by KCR” with all opinions bulldozed and silenced.

In a statement here, Mr. Reddy said that the government passing Bills after throwing out the main Opposition from Assembly and the Council ensuring there is no serious discussion on them would not augur well for the new State. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was unable to face the Congress in the House therefore had its members suspended in the most undemocratic way.

He termed the passing of Private Universities Bill as an effort to corporatise higher education on the lines of school education and opening a new way to ‘loot’ people and driving away the poor and middle class from quality higher education.

On the new Panchayat Raj Act tabled in the Assembly, he said the State government wants to acquire all the powers and defeat the empowerment of Panchayats envisioned by the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
