Not only sun and sea

Now that the summer season is soon with us we should also expect a high number of tourists as we have seen in the recent past. I am sure they will not be coming over just for the sea and sun, as though they are our monopoly.

Although our island is only 27 kilometres long and 14.5 kilometres wide, we have buildings going up and up, both in price and in height. We had many a sculpture carelessly removed and ODZ areas taken over to make space for the building of monster dwellings, some of which contrasting sharply with nearby structures.

I know that tourists, in their majority, would much more prefer to see the carpenter, the cobbler, the tinsmith, the farrier and so on. It is possible many will brand me as being anti-progress. Well, yes, I am and I yearn for a bit of fresh air. Our children would too.
