Cops: Albany man choked woman, fired gun in domestic incident

ALBANY — A 26-year-old Albany man assaulted and fired a gun at a woman inside a house on Hamilton Street early Thursday morning, police said.
Sha-Mel Rush was taken into custody and charged after Albany police say they responded to a home on the 300 block of Hamilton around 1 a.m. for reports of a commotion. When they got there, they learned that a "domestic-related incident" had occurred and that during the incident, Rush had grabbed the woman by her throat and fired a shot at her from a handgun.
The woman was not struck and was uninjured.
A loaded .38-caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.
Rush was charged with second-degree criminal possession, first-degree reckless endangerment and criminal obstruction of breathing.
He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court.
