Cape Town - The South African Football Association (SAFA) held a press conference regarding the rape allegations facing president Danny Jordaan.

An 'urgent' statement was released earlier on Thursday in order for the association to address the media at 13:00.

Jordaan has been accused of rape by former African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament, Jennifer Ferguson.

Ferguson revealed to the public that the incident happened 25 years ago at a Nelson Mandela Bay hotel.

SAFA confirmed that the National Executive Committee (NEC) back Jordaan and that he is innocent until proven guilty.

Meanwhile, the association announced that a new electoral committee has been assembled after consultation with FIFA.

The committee will meet on Saturday, April 28 to determine a new date for the SAFA presidential elections.
