Pets saved in Troy house fire
TROY — Firefighters rescued several dogs from a burning home on Sixth Avenue but other pets perished in the fire.
Some pets were killed Thursday morning when fire broke out in a home at 158 Sixth Ave.
Fire Chief Tom Garrett said the fire began in the first-floor kitchen and spread to the upper floors.
Firefighters vented the roof to allow the heat to dissipate and contain the spread of the fire.
No one was injured, but some pets were killed among the nine cats, a couple of dogs and some birds that were in the house, Garrett said.
