India bag Gold & Silver in Jr WC

new delhi: On the conclusive day of the ISSF Junior World Cup, the trio of Manu Bhaker, Muskan and Devanshi Rana annexed another gold for the Indian contingent whereas prodigious Gun For Glory (GFG) shooter Mahima Turhi Agarwal teamed up with Arunima Gaur and Tanu Rawal to clinch a silver at the 25M Pistol Women's Team event, here in Sydney. However, it wasn't smooth sailing for the trio team which eventually clinched silver in the event as only Arunima Gaur qualified to the singles event finishing fourth above all her compatriots with a score of 284 (Precision) and 291 (Rapid). GFG's prodigy Mahima and her teammate Tanu had finished the qualification round in 10th and 12th place, shooting a total of 569 and 561 respectively. The accumulative score of the trio plummeted them to the second spot.

Maharashtra draft India No 1 Amalraj

mumbai: The Rajesh Wadhawan Group owned Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) franchise Maharashtra United drafted Indian men's No 1 Amalraj Anthony, Indian female youth No 1 Selena Selvakumar and brought back Portuguese Joao Monteiro for the second season in the player's draft held here on Wednesday. The franchise roped in 2017 season title-winning coach Francisco Santos and N Ravichandran to manage the team. Speaking after the draft, team CEO Gaurav Modwel said, "We have players who have proven themselves on the biggest stages. The overall team has been much to our wish and satisfaction that essentially proves homework done by our coaches was spot on. We have five players who are No 1 in their respective categories in their countries. We are also pleased to bring back our last season's captain Joao Monteiro to the side and we expect this team goes the distance."

DSA announces groups

new delhi: Twenty ( 26 ) and Eighteen ( 18 ) teams respectively will participate in the Football Delhi ( Delhi Soccer Association ) Open Clubs Football League Championship- 2017-18 scheduled to begin from April 15 onwards in New  Delhi. The groupings of both division teams were decided through a draw of lots in the club"s secretaries meeting held at DSA Office, Dr Ambedkar Stadium on March 26. Meanwhile, the super-eight league of Senior Division league championship will begin from April 20 onwards. The 2018 - 19 calendar of Football Delhi annual activities will commence from May with the beginning of Inter-Club transfers of players.

Kerala beat Bengal to top Group A

kolkata: KP Rahul's late strike helped Kerala edge past defending champions Bengal 1-0 and enter semifinals as Group A toppers in the national football championship for the 72nd Santosh Trophy on Tuesday. Rahul was set up by Jithin MS from the right wing before guiding the ball into the net for the winning goal in the 90th minute. Kerala, courtesy the result, finished with four victories from as many matches to top Group A with 12 points. Bengal ended second with nine points from four matches. Bengal will face Group B toppers while Kerala will take on the runner-up in the two semifinals on March 30. In an inconsequential match at the Rabindra Sarovar Stadium, Maharashtra thumped Manipur 7-2 after trailing 1-2 at halftime.
