The annual Economic Impact Research produced by World Travel & Tourism Council assists businesses, NGO’s and governments to understand the trends of travel and tourism sector in a better way and make vital decisions for the future. It spreads across 185 countries and 25 regions all over the world.
Here are few facts from the report:
Travel and tourism comprise 10 percent of jobs globally: By considering the jobs like hospitality, transportation and airlines, are directly associated with travel and tourism and employs more than 119 million people all over the world. The number drastically rises to 313 million, when this number job is added to other profession supporting them.
Travel and tourism is growing rapidly than other sectors: Travel is high priority spend for the one who can afford it. People tend to cut back on other expenses more frequently than travel as depressed economic times have also seen resilience.
Only 20 nations account for 72 percent of T&T GDP: In the coming ten years, travel and tourism is anticipated to smash global economy, as the sector is growing at an average rate of 3.8 percent each year. However, its bit uneven though. Rising prosperity is making more rooms for travelers to travel internationally. On the other hand, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, and Venice have already started complaining with tourist influx, making tourism management crucial in coming days.
Egypt was last year’s fastest growing destination: In 2016, Egypt witnessed drop in tourism with 12.4 percent. However, last year, tourism increased remarkably 73 percent, overlooking dramatic terror attacks.
