Aldo Cadau has been appointed as the island’s new executive chef of Gili Lankanfushi and he will be spearheading the developments in the resort’s restaurants which will be later revealed in spring 2018.
He will look after the oversee operations of the main restaurant and Gili Lankanfushi’s other dining destinations which will include By the Sea, a Japanese fine-dining restaurant, Fini Foni, Overwater Bar in addition to the destination dining experiences and in-room villa dining.
He hails from Sardinia and his culinary passion was in his mother’s kitchen and he was hugely inspired by his upbringing.
He started off his culinary journey and got himself trained at the Hotel Institute in Arzachena, Italy.
He holds a wealth of international influences with impeccable standard of service. He will be introducing sand oven cooking techniques to the island, the first of its kind in the Maldives.
This was inspired by the subterranean cooking technique he learnt in the Middle East.
David Stepetic, general manager of Gili Lankanfushi was very excited for him as he brings his wonderful culinary talent and culture to the island.
David said that he has an intrinsic respect for food and ingredients while being a natural creative, always delivering memorable dining experiences for his guests.
They were looking forward to work with him and grow Gili Lankanfushi’s reputation.
