Singapore Airlines Limited, the world’s first air carrier to receive the biggest version of the Dreamliner jet mentioned that it is likely to invest $350 million to equip its initial 20 airplanes on order with the brand new cabin products.
Singapore Airlines is the largest customer for the Boeing Co 787 – 10 aircraft with 49 that are currently on order.
It is planning to utilize the 337-seat airplane as the backbone of its medium-haul fleet on flights of up to eight hours and would have services to be introduced on flights to Osaka, Perth and Japan in the month of May.
It would also be offering completely flat seats, complete with aisle-access in the 787-10 business class cabin.
Certain services to key corporate markets like Japan, South Korea and Australia actually lack that level of comfort when the airline had used its older regional fleet of Airbus SE A330s and Boeing 777s.
The fuel-efficient jet would enable Singapore Airlines lower its cost base, improve its product for corporate travellers and return to major capacity growth at its brand following years of being more focused on expanding in the budget sector.
This carrier last year had launched a three-year transformation program designed to help it compete more effectually against Middle East and Chinese rivals and low-cost air carriers.
