Is this what freedom looks like?
That's the question Offred a.k.a. June (Elisabeth Moss) raises in a thrilling new look at Season 2 of The Handmaid's Tale, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. And while it looks like she's on the path to freedom, the rogue handmaid isn't so sure she'll ever be able to escape Gilead completely.
"What will happen when I get out?" she asks in the video. "There probably is no out. Gilead is within you."
When the dystopian drama returns for Season 2 on Wednesday, April 25, the rogue handmaid will continually fight for her freedom while also searching for her long-lost daughter. Things will be even more complicated now that she's pregnant and unsure of the identity of the father. Is it Commander Waterford (Joseph Fiennes) who raped her repeatedly during the first season? Or Nick (Max Minghel), the family's chauffeur with whom she engaged in a consensual sexual relationship?

With the answer to that question still up in the air, the new season will also take the show to the colonies, the toxic wasteland where infertile and lower-class women are sent and worked to death. It's where Emily (Alexis Bledel) was forced to go after being found guilty of treachery for having a lesbian relationship. We'll follow her difficult journey to the barren land in Season 2 while also learning more about her backstory.
