General Manager inspects railway facilities

Part of the annual review of performance of Thiruvananthapuram railway division

R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway, on Tuesday inspected the railway facilities from Thiruvananthapuram Central to Kottayam as part of the annual review of performance of Thiruvananthapuram railway division.

He was accompanied by Divisional Railway Manager Prakash Bhutani and Principal Head of Departments and other officers. Inspection was carried out at Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kazhakuttam, Varkala Sivagiri, Kollam, Karunagapally and Kottayam railway stations. At Thiruvananthapuram Central, Mr. Kulshrestha inspected the running room, crew lobby, RRI cabin, C&W depot and other facilities.

Later, the General Manager inspected the Kazhakuttam railway station and the Points & Crossings and the bridge between Paravur–Mayyanad railway stations. In Kollam junction, he inspected the staff colony, Health Unit, RRI cabin and the works pertaining to provision of second entry to the station.

He inspected a major bridge between Perinad–Sasthamcotta railway stations and interacted with the Engineering Department Ultrasonic Flaw Detection team. Later, he inspected a curve between Sasthamcotta–Karunagapally stations.

At the Karunagapally railway station, he interacted with the Over Head Equipment maintenance gang comprising women staff. The General Manager reviewed the progress of doubling works between Changanassery–Chingavanam in the Kayamkulam–Kottayam section.

Booklet released

The General Manager released a booklet on Track Maintenance brought out by the Engineering Department, another one on safety precautions to be adopted while working in electrified areas and another booklet on Signals.

The General Manager also announced cash awards to outstanding employees for taking care to ensure safe operation of trains, for their contribution towards upkeep of work places and railway stations and in appreciation of their efforts.
