Additional Director General of Health Service Dr Promila Gupta will take over as the DGHS (officer incharge) in the Health Ministry from April 2.
She will succeed Dr B D Athani, currently incharge of the DGHS office.
Athani was given the charge "with full powers" in January after DGHS Dr Jagdish Prasad proceeded on an "earned leave" due to a vigilance probe pending against him.
"Dr Promila Gupta, Additional DGHS, Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is appointed as DGHS (officer incharge) with effect from April 2 or from the date of assumption of charge of the post of the DGHS, whichever is later, till she attains the age of 62 years or till further orders," said an office order.
According to an order issued last month, Prasad's leave was extended till April 30.
